Common Name: Iris,Dutch Iris

• Buy when a pencil of colour is apparent beneath the sheath,but before the petals start to open.
• Bud tips should not be curled or dried.
• In mid winter select flowers that are slightly open-this will ensure flowers open completely.

• Recut stems and place them in a floral preservative solution.
• Keep cool and away from draughts.
• Do not use in the same container as Narcissus.

Lilliums  are often considered one of the most beautiful flowers available. However there is one major drawback which sometimes puts people off.

The Stains developed by the pollen.

What can you do to prevent Lily Pollen getting onto your Clothes?

A very simple way to avoid stains is to immediately when arranging the flowers in a vase remove the anthers from the open flowers and continue to do so as the buds open.

What should you do when Lily pollen gets on your clothes?

• Do not brush or rub the pollen away with your hand. The human skin contains oily components that will set the stains.
• Let the pollen dry, after this remove with a soft brush.
• Another method is using a piece of adhesive tape.This tape is used to dab on the clothes until the stain has disappeared.
• Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the stains.
• If parts of the stain still remain,hang the clothing in sunlight,after a couple of hours the stain will disappear.

The Foundation will be holding their annual fund raising dinner at Mingara Recreational Club on Saturday 4th August 2012.

The aim of the Donnica Clarke Foundation is to offer financial and moral support  to young athletes, male and female , across all sports from the Central Coast region.
